With the work Fauna by Adrien M & Claire B in collaboration with Brest Brest Brest design group, a series of posters is being pasted on Völklingen’s walls for Urban Art Biennale 2022 that develops a life of its own by means of an augmented-reality app. The mysterious black creatures from foreign worlds come to life as soon as a smartphone with the app installed is pointed at them. In the digital matrix, the alien fauna leaps over the boundary between the poster and its surroundings. Like a digital variation on Lewis Carroll’s famous white rabbit—or a Pokémon—its invite us to follow it on unexpected paths and to discover the familiar urban environment with new eyes—far from boring routine. Dérive, as the Situationists would say. The Faune app can be downloaded for free in the usual app stores for smartphones.
