Description

Yellow objects lie and hang like remnants of a fictional time in the former industrial landscape of the Völklinger Hütte. They are differently shaped helmets made of beeswax harvested from the beehives on site. In constrast to the usual hard plastic shells, Anna Weberberger uses the material to cast different head forms, creating fragile headgear that melts at high temperatures. Her wearable sculptures address dysfunctionality and irregularity in an increasingly standardized, post-industrial world. Since 1986, the ironworks has stood still, its blast furnaces cooled down. Will social warmth now replace the heat of production on the site? Over the course of the summer, the foreign objects will gradually merge with their surroundings.
