World Heritage Special – Dry gas cleaning and blast furnace control room
Explore the historic monuments of industrial heritage: the dry gas purification plant – a masterpiece of engineering from 1917 and the only one of its kind in the world – and the blast furnace control room, from where, on 4 July 1986, the ironworks’ last blast furnace was shut down at the touch of a button, bringing the era of iron production in Völklingen to an end.
